As of Monday June 15th, customers can visit the showroom again on an appointment only basis.
We're all aware of the need to keep our distance at the moment for reasons of safety. We have worked out that we can only safely allow 1 customer into the shop at any one time.
Anyone is welcome to come and try instruments out. But, we politely ask that you follow these steps first:
- You must call or email us in advance to book a time.
- Only the person trying instruments will be allowed in (medical exemptions are obviously allowed, and parents may accompany children, of course!)
- Bring your own face mask to wear for your visit. The staff serving you will be wearing masks as well.
- Upon arrival, please ring the doorbell, and a member of staff will come to let you in.
- Use the hand sanisiter provided.
If you do not book an appointment then we may not be able to safely admit you to the showroom, and we may have to ask you to wait.
There will be further hygiene and distancing measures in store to preserve the safety of customers and staff, which you will be made aware of upon arrival.
High Quality Audio Zoom appointments
We've invested over a thousand pounds in kit to be able to offer the highest possible quality audio over Zoom appointments. So, if you decide that you would prefer not to make the journey to see us, be assured that you can hear the instruments remotely as well as is possible to help make your decision. Purchasing from the Southern Ukulele Store website
Occasionally items ordered through the website are out of stock, or the specifications have been changed by the manufacturers. In each instance, we will contact you to let you know before shipping your order. We will make a full refund if any alternatives we propose do not meet with your satisfaction. We are only obliged to fulfil any order once payment has been received in full. Ownership of the goods only transfers once payment is received and delivery has been made.
All instruments are checked as they arrive into stock, and we do send back an awful lot of duds to our suppliers. Each instrument is checked again, tuned, played and set up if necessary before dispatch to ensure that it reaches you in tip top condition.
All bidders must register and log in to an account on the website. All bidding will be via the website, at the bottom of the listing page for the item being auctioned. The purchase price will be the highest final bid at the end of the timed auction. Bidding increments will be identified for each auction item. No extra commission will be charged on auction lots - the final bid price is the amount the winner will pay (plus shipping charges for Highlands and Islands, and Overseas delivery, which will be added at checkout.)
The bid price includes all VAT. Upon completion of the auction, the winner will be send a link to a checkout page to complete the transaction. Please see below for Payment terms and conditions. Payment must be completed within 3 days of the end of the auction. Any warranty provided by us or the manufacturer will apply (1 year for new, 3 months for used items). Your statutory rights to return the item are not affected.

Payment and Security
Our preferred method of online payment is by card through our payment service provider, SagePay, although we take PayPal as well. If you'd rather order over the telephone then please call us on +44 (0)1202 430820. We do not keep card details on file (all are destroyed immediately after we use them) so you can be assured of complete security.
We can also offer finance on selected models over £350 in value - please call or email us to discuss.
Items will normally be dispatched within 24 hours of payment being received. We will notify you immediately of any unforseen delays. Orders received late on a Friday afternoon and over the weekend will be dispatched on Monday (Tuesday if it is a bank holiday weekend). Our couriers and business post system do not pick up on a Saturday.
All attempts are made to keep details of your order and payment secure. We use only the most secure servers and payment service providers. Unless it is proved that we have been negligent we cannot be held liable for any losses sustained by you as a result of unauthorised access to your data. None of your personal card data is held on file by us after your order is fulfilled.
All prices displayed and payments accepted are in Pounds Sterling only.
VAT (UK Sales Tax)
VAT is charged on all orders from EU countries, unless you have a valid EU registered and verifiable VAT number. For all orders outside of the EU, no VAT is charged and you will pay the Ex VAT price that you see in the checkout. But, your country's customs agency will contact you when the order arrives in your country to charge you your local Sales Tax and Import Duties before the parcel is delivered.
Please note - we are not allowed to send any parcels containing batteries outside of the UK. The courier companies will scan all packages and return any which contain batteries to us. We will check any electro acoustic ukuleles with the batteries in, then remove them for transit.

We will not be liable to you for any claims which arise out of the supply of our products to you unless we are negligent but we will not be liable in any event for any consequential loss, except where this is required by law. We hereby exclude the application of the Contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Act 1999 to each and every contract made under these Terms. These Terms cannot be altered or suspended, permanently or temporarily, without the written permission of a Director of Music is Life Instrument Retail Ltd. These conditions are subject to English law and the jurisdiction of the English courts.
